El Trapiche Tour

Enjoy the Costa Rican culture and learn about the process of making a sweet cane, coffee and cocoa through a tour of this beautiful Costa Rican family project located in Monteverde. You will have the opportunity to visit different plantations and learn about the cultivation process and its history. Let yourself be captivated by the coffee process starting with the plantation and continuing with the crushing, peeling and roasting steps of the process. If you are a chocolate lover, you can learn about the cocoa plant and its pollination. You will see the fruit and how to ferment, dry, roast and grind its seeds. You can also learn how to purchase chocolate and try a delicious tasting of it. You will learn about our traditional trapiches: manual trapiche, water wheel trapiche, and oxen trapiche. Also during the tour, you will have the opportunity to take part of the journey in a cart with oxen, without leaving aside that you can make your own sweet "sobado", a sugar cane candy. You will end this tour with a delicious arracache hash with tortilla and an excellent cup of Costa Rican coffee.
